Transportation Committee
Objective
To proactively address transportation and traffic safety issues within Sun City.
Responsibilities
The Transportation and Traffic Safety Committee is responsible for the following:
- Studying transportation requirements for Sun City including all modes of transportation such as automobile, public transit, rail, golf car, bicycle, mopeds, electric scooters and pedestrian,
- Analyzing all Sun Cities modes of transportation to make sure that they cohesively and seamlessly interface with each other,
- Working with FHWA, ADOT, MCDOT, MAG and other public and private agencies to represent Sun City interests,
- Monitoring traffic volumes within Sun City and surrounding areas with the objective of improving better traffic patterns within Sun City,
- Recommending actions and policy decisions to the SCHOA Board to meet these needs,
- Receiving all street and traffic problems including signs and anything within the street right-of-way which are submitted to the SCHOA office (these shall be first submitted to the transportation committee for its disposition), and
- Working with the appropriate government agencies including the Sheriff’s Posse in taking measures to prevent accidents and promote highway safety.
Meeting Time/Location
The Transportation Committee meets in the SCHOA building on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am.
