Planning Committee
The
Planning Committee studies the issues and problems facing Sun City and its
residents. It researches possible solutions and recommends programs for
improvement of conditions.
Chaired by
Milly Hillesheim, this committee is
made up of representatives of the other organizations with a vital interest
in their community’s future: Sun City Recreation Centers, Posse, Community Council,
PRIDES, Ambassadors, Taxpayers Association, Fire Department, and Volunteer
Placement Service, plus Sun Health, SCAT, Condominium Owners Association,
Interfaith Services, and PORA, SCHOA’s counterpart in Sun City West.

Working closely with Compliance Officers, who are the first to hear
complaints, this committee takes all steps possible, including legal action,
to enforce compliance with the Sun City deed restrictions, which apply to
every piece of residential property. It investigates the occasional
request for a variation from these restrictions.
This committee also keeps both Board
and staff current on County ordinances, and works with the Maricopa County
Department of Planning & Development to resolve any conflicts between
ordinances and deed restrictions. The committee
monitors compliance with senior overlay requirements for retirement
communities established by federal, state and county governments. It
suggests legislation to set standards for the physical appearance of Sun
City, and to provide for enforcement of those standards.
